Yakgwa is a Korean honey cookie made with wheat flour, honey, sesame oil, and ginger. Treasured by the royal family during the Joseon era, yakgwa gets its name from "yak" (medicine) and "gwa" (confectionary) because its ingredients were believed to have health-promoting benefits. Traditionally enjoyed during Chuseok (the harvest festival) and other celebrations, yakgwa symbolizes prosperity, happiness, and longevity.
